Confirmation

At confirmation we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and confirm our baptismal promises. Greater awareness of the grace of the Holy Spirit is conferred through the anointing of chrism oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop.

Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC 1316)

Can. 879 The sacrament of confirmation strengthens the baptized and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses of Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. It imprints a character, enriches by the gift of the Holy Spirit the baptized continuing on the path of Christian initiation, and binds them more perfectly to the Church.

The normal reception of Confirmation that occurs in the Diocese of Corpus Christi is for teenagers in High School. The Diocese requires a 2 year formation process that can formally begin at 9th Grade.  If you have a teenager in need of Confirmation please register your child for Religious Education by clicking here:

NOTE: If you are an adult who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, we ask that you join our RCIA program.
